Pollinator Gardens

United Protestant Church has three pollinator gardens on the property. The gardens address the environmental concern for pollinator habitats. Monarch butterflies are now on the endangered species list. One of the contributing reasons is their loss of habitat. As well the pollinators need the wild flowers for nourishment though out the season. Nature needs the pollinators in the way plants are pollinated to produce fruits and other foods. So there habitat is extremely important for the balance of Mother Nature and her needs.

UPC gardens have a wide range of pollinator plants that qualifies the gardens to be listed as designated Monarch Way-stations #52497. There are varieties of bee balm, hyssop, echinacea, three apple trees, prairie blazing star, lupine, joe pie weed, common milkweed, swamp milked, butterfly milkweed, and more types of pollinator plants in the gardens. Folks from the Morgan Park community have been very generous in helping to contribute plants to these gardens as they are considered to to be community gardens for the whole neighborhood.
